Euro 2016: England 2-1 Wales

While Wales hails Bale's free kick taking abilities, England will conclude that their team has, so far, been one of the most impressive at the tournament.

Should have beaten Russia, did finally beat Wales, right at the end. But it was a deserved win. Wales can't have been happy with their performance, Bale's long-range free kick aside, which Hart will be disappointed at letting in.

England dominated, it was a case of finding a way through. Hauling off Kane and Sterling (who surely can't be tried again, who shouldn't be in the squad, whose place should have gone to Zaha, someone who can take people on and inject the unexpected into England's play) was a masterstroke by Hodgson, though many could see it needed to be done.

Now England needs just a point to be sure of progression to the next phase, though Slovakia will provide them with their toughest test so far, I expect.
